This Legal Disclaimer explains, in plain terms, what our document is, how it should be used, and the limits of our responsibility once it reaches you. It applies to every page of idpdrive.org and to the IDP Drive Translation Document ("IDP-TD") delivered by IDP Drive ("we", "us", "our"). Please read it alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. What our document is — and is not

The IDP-TD translates the details of your valid domestic driver's license into multiple languages, in a layout that mirrors the internationally recognized format, so it can be more easily read by authorities and rental agents abroad. It is produced by a private company, not a government body, and is not one of the official IDP booklets issued by a country's designated motoring authority (for example AAA or AATA in the United States, or the equivalent body in your own country).

Any resemblance between our product name and an official "International Driving Permit" refers to the format and purpose of the translation, not to government issuance. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency, embassy, or motoring association, and any similarity in name to such an organization is coincidental.

2. Acceptance is decided by third parties

We prepare and deliver your IDP to the international standard described above, but we do not control how any individual border officer, police officer, or car rental desk applies that standard on the day. Acceptance is always at the discretion of the foreign authority, rental company, or law-enforcement official in front of you.

• We do not guarantee acceptance in any specific country, region, or transaction.
• Local rules can change without notice, and enforcement can vary between officials even within the same country.
• Some destinations — Japan is the most common example — apply special rules that differ from the standard IDP framework; check our country guide before you travel if you're headed somewhere unusual.

3. Limits on our liability

To the extent permitted by law, and except for any guarantee expressly stated in our Terms of Service, our IDP and website are provided on an "as is" basis. We are not liable for fines, denied rentals, travel delays, or any other consequence arising from how a third party chooses to treat your IDP on a given day.

Nothing in this Disclaimer removes any right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence — where such law applies, it takes priority over anything in this page that would otherwise limit it.

4. Third-party links and content

Where our site links to outside resources — official convention texts, government sites, or partner pages — we don't control that content and a link is not an endorsement of everything found there.

5. Translated versions of this page

This Disclaimer may be available in other languages on idpdrive.org. If a translated version and the English version ever conflict, the English version governs.

6. Changes to this Disclaimer

We may update this page as our service, or the law around it, evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version — we'd encourage checking back occasionally, especially before travel.

7. Governing law

This Disclaimer is governed by the laws of #GOVERNING-LAW-STATE-OR-COUNTRY, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you're entitled to under the law of your own country of residence.
